Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on the 17th April in 1972. Her dad, William John Garner, worked as a chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. To follow in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. However, because she wanted to pursue her dream as an actress, she moved into New York to try her luck in the movies. While she was appearing in Broadway plays, she also served as a server in an adjacent restaurant. On the television series "Felicity," she had one brief appearance. (It is in this show that she got to know the man she married, Scott Foley. Garner had her breakthrough with her romantic comedic film "13 going on thirty" in which she portrayed a teenager trapped in the body of a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her movie. They continued searching for new projects after Winick's demise in the year 2011. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The program focuses on literacy, nutrition and early childhood education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a part of the trustees' board of the organization. She has been pushing for early elementary education. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program, Garner visits families regularly to guide them in ways to motivate their children to achieve.
