April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her musical journey at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano lessons. At the age of 12 She composed her debut single, Different. When she was 14 April spent a lot of her time to singing and writing songs. In the following months, April started going to NY and LA with her Dad so that they could both to write songs. April was also able to add other themes in the song "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with concerns like peer pressure issues, or even teenager suicide. Lockhart has her own fan base and also works as a lifestyle blogger with the well-known Ilia clean beauty brand. The disability she has is part of her persona, however it's not the entire of the picture. As a result Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't shy away from her disability, but it doesn't center around the issue as well. What message does it convey? This is the message That we all carry many identities, we're way more diverse than we think we are. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart in a video interview "I don't think that should define me. I don't intend to influence disability, because I've many more things to contribute." And it doesn't affect my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt to things. But it's also a part of me so I think it's important to talk about. Lockhart inspires us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. However, she acknowledges going through phases with her body and sometimes being unsure about wearing certain types of clothing which showed off her arms. She wears what she likes and is proud to post pictures of herself in the outfits she wears on social media. Self-love she said is a process. "I do not think that you'll ever get there," she said. That's true of everyone regardless of the level of insecurity. People you associate yourself with who truly know you, and can see into your heart are the best people to help you remember what you're worried about.
